BMW4 Full Version Patch-in-Progress: Dictionaries Left - 2/7 |
|
THIS THREAD IS FOR THE NOW DEFUNCT ACT IV
Direct inquiries towards the new Perfect Edition Patch thread... when it exists.
I swear to ORT that I will kill a puppy for every off-topic post and then delete the post.
Note version update.
Download the full patch from here:
http://bmw.seiha.org/bmw_english4V_95.zip
JUST LET THE GRAPHICS PATCH RUN TO COMPLETION EVEN IF IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT'S DOING ANYTHING.
It's not really optimized particularly well since it's loading half gig files into memory to perform byte level alterations. That means that if you stop it part way, you'll make the game crash at a random future point.
Text files only (if you've already run the previous Act 4 graphics patch ONLY):
http://bmw.seiha.org/bmw_english4V_95_textonly.zip
Known Unfinished Work:
- Anything/everything controlled by the exe including but not limited to:
- Assorted battle data popups
- Spirit names on the status screen
- Windows system messages
- Hero name on the save screen
- Status effects on the Weapon Status screen
- A couple graphical hiccups
- All post game content:
- New Game+ Information (text is a lie anyway)
- Character dictionary (which has multiple glitches as well)
- Music dictionary
- The bottom window of the Save/Load screen (needs to be redone to match new GIANT SIZE TEXT
Reporting typos/bad wording:
Tell me what stage, and whether it happens before the gameplay part or after. A screenshot or just text is fine. I reserve the right to ignore you and make fun of your 3rd grade teacher.
Reporting bugs:
I guess I'll go ahead and fix things, though if they're not game-ending, they're low priority. Even if they are game ending, there's a very real chance I won't be able to do anything about them, but it doesn't hurt to say something.

Bug 1:
In Act 1 several character names aren't translated when they have Dialogue
Not translated: Takumi, Haruna, Rin, SHIKI, Saber, Kohaku, Hisui,Len , Phantasmoon
Translated: Mike, Nvrsqr, Mech-Hisui , Caster, the white wolf Youkai thing, Transmitter Girl, Beachball Player girl, Mothra, the crow things, anything thats ??????, Fire Hydrant wielders.
|
Unrepeatable. Make sure you actually ran the graphics patch to completion because it sounds like you have an untranslated data8.
 |
 |
Bug 2:
Chaos appears and immediately retreats when triggered on Stage 4, I presume thats a Werk Bug. |
No, my fault. Mis-set flag changed from previous version. Used to be 1, should be 2. Changed. Patch files updated since it's a relatively important gameplay bug.
 |
 |
Do I need to install Werk's patches first, or does the text-only patch include bugfixes? |
 |
 |
Jesus tap-dancing Christ, 54MB. You really outdid yourself this time, Aro. |
Most of it's from 10_2. I couldn't remember if I changed anything in there yet, but since I knew I had to eventually, I just tossed it in anyway.

Nero bug is fixed. I've rerun the graphics patch, still doesn't translate those names. Going to rerun it again and watch it all the way through this time to see if it even attempts to Patch Data 8. |
Here's how it works:
Check Key File (Data10)
--If key file is unmodified Data10: Edit all files it recognizes (similar checking process, but not as rigorous/memory demanding)
--If key file is the modified Data10: Patch complete, throw party
--If key file cannot be found: Abort
If you've modified some, but not others, or interrupted the patch previously, that'll foul things up and it'll think it's complete because the key file is already patched, or it'll no longer recognize the files because they are wrong since they're now partially patched. In that case, I'd suggest reinstallation from the start.

Reinstalled using the CDs for 1+2 , 3 and 4 (the final release of 4) and installed the forth_patch081010.zip patch, then copied over the files from the english translation patch, then ran the BMWAct4Graphics.exe file and let it run to completion, it tells me that its succeeded.
Same thing still happens, those names aren't translated. When I try and rerun the graphics patch it tells me its already done (unsurprisingly). Its like its not patching data8 for some reason. I tried to watch it patch file by file but it just essentially froze on data10 and didn't respond again until it was completed so I couldn't tell from that.
I'm running Vista 64 for my OS but I don't think that'd matter since the Graphics Patch is setup to run with admin priveleges under Vista automatically.
If I can provide anything else to help let me know. |
Sorry. No clue. I assume it's because it's a 'bad' data8 file different from the norm. No, it has nothing to do with the other patches because none of them change any of the media files except for data8_2/10_2 which they just replace.

Hey, I think this is a bug anyway.
Before I applied the patch, Aoko in the last level had 200000 HP. However, after I applied it her HP was reduced to 150000. Also, Shirou's Projection used to use Avenger's swords, but now it is back to using Archer's (Maybe it's random?) |
Aoko's HP fixed. Not sure why the diff checker missed that. It caught the other 20 some odd changes to that file.
And Shirou's Projection2 is random. In theory, it's a 20% chance to get the Avenger version animation after stage 45 or so.

Re: quick question |
|
 |
 |
Am I correct in thinking that Act 4 doesn't mess with data8 ? I just checked the setup.exe file contents on my disk 4 CD and its missing data8.
My data8 file is 409246 KB in size and was last modified on 16/7/2007. |
Therein lies the problem.
I'm interested in what's different.
Download this:
http://bmw.seiha.org/yanepack.zip
Use that to open up data8 (the bottom left button).
Put these in and repack it (top right button) to manually patch data8.

just a quick (and probubly stupid) question. i uninstalled all the games since they got screwed up so do i have to replace the data with each data batch u posted and install each graphics patch u posted or can i just install all 4 games and use the new patch and data on this thread to translate the entire game? |

In Kiritsugu's and Iris's combo attack, the first thing Kirisugu says is Iri. Shouldn't it be Iris? |
Nope.
 |
 |
<msglist name="DEFAULT1" size="11" cond="100">
<msg side="LEFT" chara="KIRITSUGU" face="SHINKEN">
アイリ
</msg>
<msg side="LEFT" chara="IRIS" face="UNAZUKI">
ええ、キリツグ
</msg>
...
|
アイリ - Airi
アイリス - Airisu
Internal references use アイリス, so I assume it's just a nickname he uses instead of a pair of typos. I honestly haven't read Fate/Zero though, so I don't know if that's just a Werk thing or what.

Not necessarily typos, but there's some wonky wordings and minor grammatical things in the pre-37 dialogue. I'll just point out the sentence and add my suggestion afterwards, feel free to do whatever.
I think it would flow better as "Do you remember where we are or who I am?", given his remarks immediately preceding.
Shortly afterwards, is this line translated right?
"You said your name and to do absolutely nothing until you got up." It feels like it should be "You said my name blah blah blah". Sorry if your version is actually correct, it just sounds weird.
"This arguing is dangerous." -> "Arguing like this with him is dangerous."
"Basically from there to kill them by any means possible. Right?" ->
"From there, I will kill them by any means possible, right?" could be more viable I suppose.
"Then how do you prefer to fight, oh great representative of the Assocation." Missing a question mark.
Edit: I noticed something funny in battle 37. One of the big Getter thing's (the one standing in front of Araya) quotes had all squares in it, the kind you see when you don't have a proper Unicode font or whatever. Is that intentional or is it just on my end?
"And once we've gathered enough information, we can formulate a strategy to beat each." It would probably sound better to end with "... to beat each of them."
"We must avoid sacrificing normal people as much as possible." Hanging modifier at the end there. I don't think it's that big of a deal, but you could change it to "We must avoid sacrificing normal people if at all possible."
"'Keep your identity a secret' has already been completely abandoned." sounds like a bizarre way of saying "My/your/our (?) identity has already been compromised."
"Shirou, you're in there?" -> "Shirou, are you in there?" or "Shirou, you in there?"
"Yeah. Up until now, nothing has ever been left behind, but there might be something." ->
"Yeah. Before now, nothing was ever left behind, but there might be something this time."
"Be the key to the Great Grail. That's the role of the Small Grail." You could probably omit the "Be the" from the first sentence.
"Sakura... are you okay to be up...?" ->"Sakura... are you feeling well enough to be up?"
"... Sakura, are you okay to talk." -> "... Sakura, are you okay with talking?"
"Yeah, of course that's okay. What did you want?" -> "blah blah What do you want?"
"Well, then I'd have to take care of you instead of him." Is the original text saying she has to take care of Shiki instead of taking care of Kokutou, or is it saying instead of Kokutou taking care of Shiki now Touko has to? The wording is sort of ambiguous there, but if it's the latter -> "Well, then in Kokutou's stead I'd have to take care of you." would clear that up.
"You're alive again, or did you never die?" -> "Are you alive again, or did you never die in the first place?" or some such.
Edit: Post-Battle 37 thing.
Bazett: "Are there any other conditions, aside from the night, that are paid for your Noble Phantasm?" -> changing "paid" to "required" seems to make sense here.

Another odd glitch. Werk probably screwed something up.
Stage 5 (Super Version only) attacking anyone makes
"Raikiri: ..... "
pop up early...
Harmless, but odd. No actual enemies show up, just the one dialogue box.

...Werk error again.
Blerg. Gimme a minute or two to figure out what happened now.
Edit:
...ugh. 05_h_s has all sorts of deprecated code that was removed from every other Act1 stage. I don't even want to touch it, let alone use it for comparison.
Editx2:
Holy christ was that irritating. I'll spare the details, but there were multiple missing functions. Fixed now. Uploading. Give it a few minutes.
Not ignoring you, Setra. Just slow about getting up the desire to deal with that stuff.

Heh.. I'm running through the game on both routes, and thankfully, there seems to be nothing wrong with episode 6. So, act 1 should be fine.
BTW, could you possibly put an "Last Updated on: / Last bugs fixed: " thingie by the Text-only patch link? It'd be a bit more convinient to people who don't really watch the forums that much.

*watches his sprite move up and down*
Hmm... |
Fixed that and another graphical dictionary bug. Too lazy to update.

In the story dialog for chapter 38, it seems that a good portion of the chapter 37 dialog is tagged onto it (both pre-battle). I actually skipped past it just to see if it looped the whole stage, but thankfully it didn't. |
Intentional.
